woohoo.

So we are currently going through the annual review process at work. These reviews determine whether or not you get a raise or promotion. Each year, an unbiased coworker is assigned to complete your review. You provide a self assessment and they use that to interview your other coworkers to assess how you did for the year. This will be my first one, since I'm just coming up on completing my first year with the company.

Anyways, I met with my reviewer today and she told me that she's going to put me in for a promotion this cycle. I'm pumped. A) That she's even putting me in for it. B) Because I had heard they typically don't put you in for one until you've been here 2 years. But she said it doesn't hurt to try. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I don't really expect that I'll actually get it, just because I still think I have a lot of growing to do. But it's flattering. And I'm excited that it's even a possibility.

I also learned that I will be receiving an award in the coming months too. Our company does several kinds of awards, some of them being more basic than others. The one I was put in for is actually one of the better ones though. It means that another coworker nominated me for it based on my performance, and the board has approved it. So they don't just hand them out willy nilly. There is also a substantial monetary award that comes along with it, but I won't know the exact amount until I'm actually given the award. Regardless, I'm excited. And again flattered. Plus, it will help bolster my review for the possible promotion.

So today gets a big WOOHOO from me!
