Anyways, my shower was yesterday and it was SO much fun. It also involved a HUGE surprise that I had no idea about.
It started off like any other Saturday. Got up, got ready for the day, and then went out to run some errands. It was 50% off day at the consignment sale, so I hit that up first and bought a ton of cute baby clothes. Then I did my usual Saturday grocery shopping. By the time I was done with all of that, I only had about 30 minutes to spare before my shower was supposed to start.
I made it over to my sister's house right on time (she was hosting my shower). A few people had already started to arrive, so I got to mingle and chit chat a bit. At one point, I noticed my mom wasn't there, so I asked where she was and was told she had to run to the store. Meanwhile, I started eyeing the food, as I was starving at that point. The spread was amazing by the way. So much good food that I couldn't even eat everything that I wanted to. And that was without even eating lunch!
I was sitting on the couch when I heard my mom walk in the front door. I turned around to say hello and was SHOCKED to see my MIL standing there with her! It was literally the best surprise ever because I had no idea whatsoever that she was coming. She flew in that morning and my mom went to pick her up at the airport. I was so glad she was able to make it though because she has been so excited for us this whole pregnancy, but had been missing out on a lot, as she lives in NC. It was so great to get to share such a special day with her. And I felt so honored that she traveled all that way just for my shower.
After that, we did the usual shower stuff. Ate some great food, played a few games, opened presents, and then dug into the cake (which was awesome by the way!). I was so amazed by the generosity of our friends and family too. We got so many wonderful gifts. Baby Nate is already one spoiled little boy, that's for sure!
BTW, here's a pic of said awesome cake:

I caught myself a few times just being amazed by the whole experience. I mean, I was actually attending a baby shower FOR ME. It just seemed so surreal at times. For so long, it seemed like I would never get the pleasure of experiencing one. And to actually have the day be here. Well, it was humbling.
Hi Ashley,
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you had such a lovely shower. Sorry I wasn't able to take part - Ottawa is just too far for a day trip! We will send something for little Nate after his arrival.
Love, K
