Anyways, we went in for Nate's 6 month check up yesterday. He was 18 lbs 9 oz (70%), 28 inches long (90%), and he had a huge head. Huge head as in he measured off the charts. He has always been in the 90+% with regards to head circumference, so this is the first time he measured off the charts.
Of course, what good would a check up be without some worry thrown in there for good measure? His pedi said she wants to keep a closer eye on his head growth. So instead of waiting until 8 months to measure it again, she wants to measure it next month when he goes in for his next round of shots. After next month, he will be done with shots until his 12 month appointment. But it sounds like we will go in every month or so regardless, just to keep an eye on that huge noggin.
I did ask her what would be done if it continued to grow off the charts. And she said that if it stays on it's own curve, then they would just monitor it. But if it starts jumping up in size, then they would want to do some xrays or MRI, or whatever, just to make sure nothing is wrong internally. I'm sure I made a horrified face because she hurriedly said that they have had other babies measure off the charts and she has never seen a case of anything being wrong. All the other kids just had huge heads. And she went on to say that he is meeting all of his milestones just perfectly, so that's another indication that everything is fine.
I'm impressed that he has mastered sitting on his own now with such a huge head. Here he is in all his cuteness, practicing his skills in the backyard.

His head is NOT huge. He's totally adorable! And Meemaw should know.
