i'm a slacker.

I have been totally slacking on the blog front. Work has gotten pretty busy, so I haven't had the time to update during the day. Then of course, by the time I get home, I'm pretty focused on just playing with Nate until he goes to bed. And then once he's in bed, I relax for about 30 minutes before going to bed myself. So as you can see, time has slipped away before I even realize it.

I was joking with B the other day that Nate is a slacker too. He doesn't roll over yet and he has little wet noodles for legs when you hold him up. Although to be fair, I don't think he's behind necessarily. I just don't think he's "advanced" for his age. He does great on his tummy now, even though he still doesn't like it. And he can roll over from back to tummy if you give him a little push. But a lot of the time he just resists because he's not a fan of being on his tummy.

We got him a jumperoo about a month ago and while he likes playing with the toys in it, he doesn't have a clue yet about the jumping feature. Same thing when you hold him up and try to get him to "stand". His legs are just like little wet noodles. But he sure has a big ole grin on his face when you do it! I'm not that concerned though because he flails and kicks his legs all the time when he's laying down. He even found his feet a few weeks ago so now they're constantly in his mouth. I'm sure he'll figure it out eventually.

In dairy sensitivity news, I ended up taking him to the pediatric gastroenterologist per his doc's recommendation a few weeks ago. I was a little hesitant about going because I knew I was going to refuse any kind of testing/scoping if they suggested it. Luckily, the doc I met with was wonderful and basically told me he looked like a healthy, happy baby and that he may just be a baby that always has residual blood in his stools. He said because I'm not actually seeing any blood and because Nate acts so happy all the time and is growing perfectly, he's not worried about him and didn't suggest any testing. He said that at 4 months old Nate's gut is still just immature and that when it finally matures in a few more months, he's willing to bet that the residual positive tests will finally go away.

In the meantime, he told me I could try weaning some of the hidden soy and dairy back into my diet. He was willing to bet that I would see no difference in Nate if I did. I'm a little hesitant to try the dairy quite yet, even if it is hidden, but I have tried a little bit of hidden soy here and there and so far, I haven't noticed any changes in Nate. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

That appointment also helped solidify in my mind that I wanted to wait to start Nate on any solids until he's 6 months old. A lot of times, pedi's will give the go ahead if you want to start trying things at 4 months. But given his issues, I wanted to give his gut time to mature first before introducing anything else to it. And both his pedi and the gastro doc agreed. So in about a month now, we can start trying things. I'm hoping he will continue to be a good eater!

He also had his 4 month check up and shots a few weeks ago. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, so these might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he weighed in at 15 lbs 15 oz and was 26 inches long. I do remember them telling me that was 75% for weight and 90% for both length and head circumference. He dropped a bit in the percentages for weight (from 90% at 2 months to 75% at 4 months) but his pedi didn't seem concerned, even given his history of food sensitivities.

I took some cute pictures of him recently too, so I'll have to post them soon.
