baby nate is here!

Baby Nate has arrived safe and sound! As planned, he was born on January 5th at 7:14am by scheduled c-section. He was 10lbs 3oz and 21 inches long!

We had to be at the hospital by 5am for the 7am c/s. I did actually manage to sleep the night before, though I was definitely nervous. We got there, checked in, and they took us back to the triage room pretty quickly. Surprisingly enough, the monitors they hooked me up to while filling out paperwork actually showed I was having regular contractions. I never actually felt anything other than my usual BH though.

My mom showed up about an hour before the c/s for moral support. And it was a good thing she did because the first thing B had said to me as we pulled into the parking lot that morning was "I feel like I'm going to puke." So he was definitely nervous as well. Plus, he gets kind of squeamish around blood, etc. It was a real blessing having her there to help keep his mind off the gory stuff and more on the good stuff. We had a wonderful anesthesiologist too because he let both my mom and B come into the OR for the actual c/s.

All in all, the c/s itself wasn't that bad. I only felt a little pulling and tugging, nothing as uncomfortable as I had imagined. I had the shakes for a while, but that wasn't that bad either. No nausea or vomiting. It was also pretty quick. They started around 7am and he was born 14 minutes later. It was amazing to hear him cry the first time. But they took him right to the warming table and I didn't get to see him until they had cleaned him off and took him to the scale to weigh him.

As of right now, I'm still in the hospital. I'm scheduled to go home tomorrow morning though. Everything seems to be healing really nice though and I'm not in as much pain as I thought I would be. Getting in and out of bed is a little painful, but nothing that doesn't pass once I actually move around. Everyone who suggested walking as soon as possible was right, it definitely helps. I don't have any pain anymore when I walk. My belly is still tender of course, but it doesn't bother me much.

So without further ado, here is my handsome little chunk of a man.
